Humanity is going through another evolutionary phase, and that is the electronic age, people are very much addicted to electric appliances and devices.
The speed of evolution is the same as that of the internet, just one click, and we jump from one place to another.
We carry the world in our hands, because of the internet, but it is not that simple, not everyone can afford the internet on their mobile devices.
So, here comes the introduction of Wi-Fi, it is cheap, fast and convenient. Surprisingly there is more than 9 billion active Wi-Fi in the world, more than the number of humans living on the planet.
Even while reading this article, many of you might be having your device connected to Wi-Fi. Or while talking to a friend online, connecting with them, forming a network, etc. Also, in cases like these, you might want to have a stable and secure network. Well, Router Login can help you do the same.
Since the internet is very vast and spreads across the world, it becomes difficult to know about everything. You might even not know everything about the Wi-Fi you are using right now, let us help you with some of it. We are here to tell you more about the things you probably didn’t know about Wi-Fi.
Here’s a list of 5 things you didn’t know about Wi-Fi.
1. Wi-Fi does not stand for Wireless Fidelity.
Wi-Fi was once known by its formal name, which had just alphabets and numbers. The original name given to the device was ‘IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence’. It was until 1999 that the Wi-Fi alliance hired a brand consulting company to name the product something better than IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence.
There is a misconception about the abbreviation of Wi-Fi; it does not mean wireless fidelity. The Wi-Fi alliance came up with the name Wi-Fi, they used the term Wireless Fidelity for the promotion of the product and the brand name, since then people started taking it as a precise meaning.
2. Anything other than Wi-Fi is not approved.
You might have encountered many products that are named Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi, or WIFI, but for your kind information, none of them gets support from the Wi-Fi alliance as they believe that only Wi-Fi is the original name. IEEE 802.11b is the single related name that is approved by the coalition that was formed in 1999 as a non-profit organization that consists of 375 companies.
The alliance has officially stated that Wi-Fi is the original name, and they will not approve anything other than this. So next time you are getting a Wi-Fi connection, make sure you get the original.
3. Wi-Fi is attracted more to interference than your computer.
The statement, as mentioned above, is not funny; Wi-Fi signals are quickly interrupted. You might sometimes be wondering about how internet speed is reduced without any interference. Wi-Fi is usually interrupted by other electronic devices or appliances at your home. Microwave, Television, or Bluetooth devices.
Physical interruption is also a common problem, and it is recommended to keep the router close to your computer to reduce physical interference for the signals. Even you are an obstruction for it if you are sitting between your computer and the router. Generally, objects that are good conductors of electricity cause problems to the signal, hence it is advised to keep the router for such purposes.
4. There are two frequencies of Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi is available in two rates, 2.4GHz and 5GHz, and it is imperative to know the difference between the two. 2.4GHz is an everyday frequency, and other devices microwave, radio, TV, etc. use the same rate.
This could lead to fluctuation and weak signals. Although 2,4GHz provides long-range signals when it comes to speed, 5GHz is preferred. It is entirely on you as per your demand, but 5GHz will give you extra gear, but it is a short-range model, while 2.4GHz is long-range and consistent.
5. Range and speed are in your hands.
It is a common myth that staying too close to Wi-Fi would affect your health, this is just a misconception, and there is no health issue due to Wi-Fi. Experts suggest there should be no obstruction between the router and the computer to get the best possible speed.
The speed of the internet is based on the strong signals released by the router. Therefore there should be no obstruction between the two.
Also, connecting too many devices to your Wi-Fi leads to slow internet speed. Connecting mobiles, IPad, laptops, computers, and even smart TV nowadays. Such multiple connections will give you slow internet speed. To get the fastest speed possible from your Wi-Fi connection, disconnect all the other devices, this could work as a hack for you, and you can enjoy your fast internet connection.
These were some of the things you probably didn’t know about Wi-Fi, we hope this will help you the next time you use your Wi-Fi. We are so much dependent on the internet, and today we know a little more about it after this article. We hope you are more smart and knowledgeable about Wi-Fi.
